I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Giulia Romay, I am a researcher of the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of
Excellence, coordinated by professor Dr Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida.

On behalf of professor Paula W. Almeida I would like to kindly ask for your
assistance in disseminating the material below, which announces the *Call
for Papers of the Workshop 'Transforming the Role of International Courts
and Tribunals in a New Era of Adjudication'*, an activity of the Jean
Monnet Centre of Excellence at FGV Direito Rio, with the support of the
European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme.

The target audience of the Call for Papers are junior and senior
researchers interested in submitting draft papers dealing with empirical
methodology applied to the study of international courts and tribunals. The
event will occur in hybrid format (virtual and in-person
presentations). Submissions
are expected no later than *6 March 2023*.

On 16 March 2023, the Fundação Getulio Vargas Rio de Janeiro Law School
will host the Workshop Transforming the Role of International Courts and
Tribunals in a New Era of Adjudication as an activity of the FGV Jean
Monnet Centre of Excellence, with the support of the European Union
Erasmus+ Programme.

The workshop aims at exploring the demands for greater participation,
legitimacy and transparency that have been gaining momentum in recent
years. It takes into account the new role of international courts and
tribunals (ICTs) in finding balance between States’ rights and the
provision of common interests, without ignoring the geopolitical
implications of international judgments.

The workshop will also explore the use of empirical methodology to work
with large databases on ICTs. Seeking for innovative contributions, we
invite interested junior and senior researchers to submit *draft papers
dealing with empirical methodology applied to the study of ICTs*. We
encourage submissions engaging with a broad range of current challenges
pertaining to the law and practice of international courts and tribunals.

Papers must be submitted in English. Selected papers will be discussed by
FGV researchers with a solid experience in working with large databases on
courts and tribunals.
